The Sartorialist - The Book

I've always admired Scott Schuman ever since I first saw
his work on Vogue's website a couple of years ago.
He captures people from all over the
world. He may photograph someone because he or she is impeccably
dressed, or because he or she was able to put something together
that's risky but awe inspiring.
Many of his subjects have given me inspiration in for the
way I dress. Each season, I not only look forward
to seeing the looks on the catwalk, but I also cannot
wait to see all of the fashionable people he captures
that flood the streets during fashion weeks in New York,
Paris, and Milan. I am so excited about his new book and can't wait
until its release!

Stunning Balmain Boots

from Net-A-Porter

It's been too long since my last post.
I've neglected my blog.
Currently, I'm engaged in other more important matters.
I will return less frequently, at least for a little while.
In the mean time, I had to post these beautiful Balmain boots I saw
on Net-a-Porter. I loved Balmain's entire collection!
On another note, I may be heading to New York with my BF and his friends in the fall.
I hope we really get to go!

Vintage Dushante Faille Suit from Atlantis Vintage

Thank you Judy from Atlantis Vintage!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
This suit has got to be in my top 10 favorites.
It's absolutely stunning, and sorry, but there is only one
out there, as far as I know... That's the beauty of vintage.
As soon as I put it on, I feel transformed and uuber chic!
(The pictures are crummy... I'll have to take more when I wear it out, but alas...
sadly the weather has gotten too warm for this ensemble. I will wear it out when
it gets cooler.)

Absolutely GaGa Over Clutches

Dries Van Noten
monamoore.com
Ann Demeulemeester
monamoore.com
I've always loved clutches; they're oh so chic! With all of the eighties silhouettes out there, i.e., tapered parachute pants, emphasized shoulders, etc... a clutch seems like the perfect handheld accessory. For some reason, large bags or bags with straps just don't look right to me. Give me a great pair of heels, an outrageously chic outfit, and a beautiful clutch to seal the deal.

I am so excited about my vintage purchase from
I can't believe that I was lucky enough to get this one of a kind vintage 80's suit.
It's absolutely gorgeous! It will take a while for it to get here,
but as soon as it comes, I will post a picture.
Thank you so much Judy from Atlantis Home.

A Little Dries Van Noten Inspired DIY Project

I love the Dries Van Noten cuffs that came down the spring runway.
As I said, I'm trying to save my money. I decided to try and
make a cuff myself. I used dupioni silk, black square
paillettes, and black leather strands for the straps.
I made the straps extra long so I can wrap them around the
cuff a few times for a really cool look like on the runway.
I'm going to do a different look on the other side using
beading and embroidery. It will be much more detailed.
I didn't have any tiny needles for the beads to fit through.
I'll have two cuffs in one by the time I'm finished!
No one was home to help me tie the leather
strands so I did my best to do so myself for the last picture. :)
I also had another cool idea...
I tried tying the cuff around my ankle and
I realized that if I had two, they would look so cute with black pumps!

RODARTE Fall 2009

OMG I love these looks and the boots from Rodarte!
The leather jackets and deconstructed sweaters
and skirts were all made from a collage of different
materials and with so much detail.
I'm in love with this collection!

Over the Knee Boots

I am so happy that so many designers are doing the
over-the-knee boots for fall 2009! I posted last year that
I really wanted to buy a pair this fall, and now I will surely
be able to find a pair. I swear that Kate Moss was probably
the one who kickstarted this trend way back when she
was photographed traipsing around London looking so
chic and effortless in hers. I can't wait! I'm not spending a
dime until fall comes around for I've seen way too many
beautiful things!

Jane Aldridge

This fashion darling needs no introduction. Jane Aldridge,
has been featured in TeenVogue and TeenVogue Korea.
It's hard to imagine that this inspiring gal is only in her mid teens!
She has a truly innate sense of style and is not afraid to express
herself sartorially. If you haven't checked out her blog yet,
it's worth seeing! Her mom, Judy Aldridge also has her own
blog and is also very stylish in her own right.
She also runs a new vintage clothing store online and is
designing clothing!
I am waiting for her clothes to be available online.
She has designed a beautiful blouse, which screams for attention!
I will have to post a picture up next time.

Before I forget, here is the link to Miss Aldridge's blog,
where you can also find a link to her cool mom's blog.

Thanks to blogger Jane Aldridge for letting everyone know about Sophie Arancio's (pictured first) blog!Miss Arancio is like the female Sartorialist and takes beautiful photos of really cool people. She herself is very beautiful and very stylish as well. I love the picture just below Sophie's. I love the French! They are so forward in fashion and effortlessly chic! Style seems innate in them. I wish I was French!

Repurposed Lego Jewelry

I love these cuff-like bracelets by Emiko Oye!
I found these bracelets on http://www.objectfetish.com/
a shopping website that features artists from around the world.
Emiko Oye not only creates jewelry but sculptures
as well, using recycled materials.
Her work has been exhibited in the US and in Europe.
I personally like the first and last bracelets!

Shots from British Vogue January 2009

By far, British and Paris Vogue along with British Harper's Bazaar
have got to be my absolute favorite publications!
I loved the fall issues from 2008 and I'm loving the spring issues
as well. There's just so much to observe and take in from them.
When I pop into Chapters and see a new issue on the shelf,
I feel like I do on Christmas morning!
The issues are released like 2 months after
their publication date here in Canada, but I don't hesitate.
I've been cutting back though, because they cost so much...

Some Killer Spatted Heels

This ad was taken from British Harper's Bazaar.
These shoes are SO COOL!

Mom's Retro Vintage Dior Sunglasses

I had found this pair hiding in my mom's accessory drawer back in the summer.
I was flipping through a magazine the other day and saw a pair of
Dior sunglasses being advertised for this spring. They were exactly like
my Mom's old pair. A perfect example of how fashion is cyclical...
These look so much better than in the pictures.
I remember looking at a photo of my mom and me at a theme park.
She had a leopard print top on and had these sunnies on.
When I find the picture, I'll be sure to post it!
My mom's got such great stuff. She was more into fashion
back in the 80s and 90s than she is right now.
She's still gorgeous though!

CHANEL
HAUTE COUTURE
PRINTEMPS 2009
The haute couture collection was
so crisp and clean. The entire collection,
according to Karl Lagerfeld,
was inspired by a fresh sheet of white
paper.
This could be felt not only in
the design of the clothes,
but in the hair ornaments, and in
the set as well.
The collection begins with several
suits, each made up of several
pieces.
They featured the same structured,
yet light silhouttes all done in
a contemporary style.
You will then be amazed at
all of the intricate details
in the looks to follow.
The lace, beadwork, sequins,
fabrics, and cuts are so beautiful.
The pictures here do not do
the collection any justice.
You must go to the CHANEL website
and view the entire collection.

Jill Stuart Fall 2009

Fall 2009 looks have already been released along the runways
by many designers. I haven't followed up on all of the shows, but of course,
I am very much liking the Jill Stuart collection, especially the shoes and lace
up boots! Jill Stuart always remains true to her girlish and ethereal
customs, but there was definitely a rock and roll vibe.
Many other collections were also showing a lot of black,
white, and leather, but in a very mannish tone.

My Lambswool Vest

I'm wearing a Jill Stuart dress from the fall 2007 collection.
I bought it overseas in South Korea.
I actually wore this outfit on my last trip to Toronto
with my grandma -minus the boots!
(I wore flat boots that day, which, I actually borrowed from
my grandma. I guess you can call them vintage!)
I bought this black curly-haired lambswool vest
on the Internet a while ago. There were three different lengths
to choose from, and I ended up choosing a shorter
length. I think I would have preferred the longer
cut, but this will do.The quality is so great in
comparison to its cost. Maybe in the fall I'll order
the longer one.
My poor Bangul! He's looking at all that wool and
thinking, 'I hope I'm not next!'
His fur is very similar. Its curly and soft!
Actually, I believe the wool was sheared, so
there wasn't any cruelty involved.
My other little dog is actually preoccupied in
the picture. She had spotted something on top of
the table and wanted me to get it down for her.
(By the way, sorry for the boring backdrops.
This room is actually my sister's.
It's the only room with enough lighting to take pictures.)

A Gift From My Better Half

For my 25th birthday, my boyfriend took me shopping
and said that I could buy anything I wanted.
After hours of perusing, I chose these ankle boots.
(They're called "Bang Bang" and
I think they're quite befitting to celebrate turning 25!)
These are also one of the highest pair of heels I
own. They boast a 10cm heel!
I won't go anywhere with these on without my boyfriend in tow.
We've dated on and off for over 8 years,
and he's never done this before!
I never expected it, but it was
a nice surprise.
I will treasure these forever.
Thank you for being so patient.
Thank you for liking them, even when I know
you really don't.
I know how you hate ankle boots!
Thank you.

This woman took some risks, but I like how
it all came together. It's unexpected and a little
wonky, yet extremely chic.

Trying on Shoes with My Darlings

Two of my three darling pups have joined me in trying on shoes.
They're not having as much fun as I'm having.
Can you tell? ^^
I bought these shoes last season after saving up.
They're "museum quality". The design is really sculptural
and the colors are gorgeous!
They're also surprisingly comfortable.
These shoes should come with a warning that reads:
"May cause vertigo."
They are one of the highest pair of heels I own.
I'll only wear them with my boyfriend
as my chaperone.
I love the shirt I'm wearing. It's Marc by Marc Jacobs.
I bought it in South Korea while I was teaching and
making some serious dough.
-A reward for all of my hard work!

Ankle Boot, ALEXANDER MCQUEEN Fall 2008
Leather and Suede Sandals, BALENCIAGA Precollection 2009
What am I going to do about those sandals?
(very loud sigh)
It's a good thing they're a little too high for my liking.
Also, I only tend to spend more on items that
can be worn for many years. Although these sandals
are unique enough to escape all trends, they'd be a
little too sexy and impractical in a few years to come, for me anyhow.
I saw them on my last shopping excursion.
They'll eventually probably go on sale, since
I've noticed that all the atypical shoes (the nice ones),
get left on the shelves.
We shall see.

Leather Leggings

Without a doubt, there is at present
a large following of fashion lovers sporting
tight shiny black leggings everywhere. I'm not sure
who started this craze, but I'm definitely loving the trend!
I own a pair of member's only liquid leggings and they're
great. I can pair them with short skirts, dresses, tunics,
t-shirts, and so much more.
I had actually been wanting a pair of
leather leggings, but couldn't afford to buy any
for the longest time. All of the one's I've seen
are $400.00 to over $1000.00!
But I'll let you in on something...
I'm getting a pair custom made by a seller
I found on ebay.
The store is called, Colors of Passion, and they
will make you a pair that fits you like a glove for
just over $100.00. I'm sure they'll turn out
beautiful and will be just as nice as any other.
Although I like my liquid leggings, I'm opting for
a leather pair, because I believe it will look more polished
and sophisticated. I will also be able to wear them well
after the liquid legging trend fades, which, I'm
very sure it will.
There is definitey, in my opinion, an age limit to wearing
liquid leggings, but my leather leggings will
see me through the years to come!
